Lesson for Teachers

This morning Kaitlin and I walked into our field classroom and our host teacher seemed really upset. We talked to her about it and she said she had a rough morning at home. She told us, "regardless of how bad my morning was, I still have 20 students that show up to learn everyday." I love how realistic she was about the situation. I am a very emotional person and i think it is going to be a challenge for me to keep myself together in the classroom if I'm going through a crisis. Basically, my life outside of the classroom can't interfere with my teaching. I'm going to work on it. The biggest piece of advise my host teacher had was to find support in your school. Make a few close 'teacher friends' in your school that you can talk to and rely on. It might take a while to build these relationships but they will make your life so much easier.

Thoughts While Watching TV

Earlier, I was looking for something to watch before Jersey Shore and Titanic was on! It’s my favorite movie ever. I’ve seen the movie probably 50 times and it never gets old. Titanic is the only 3-hour movie that my ADD allows me to watch in one sitting. Leo is amazing. One of the favorite parts of the movie is the music. I used to play a lot of the soundtrack on the violin. Something I hate about Titanic is the emphasis on class. I don’t like how people are ranked by 1st, 2nd and 3rd class. Just because someone has more money than someone else doesn’t mean that his or her life is more valuable. It’s sad that money was and is so prominent in society. As I think about it more I feel guilty for saying in the past that I want to teach in a “good” school district. People usually consider good schools to be the ones with more money. I will be more cautious of what I say from now on and not be so concerned with social class and money.

What Did You Change On Your Blog?

I changed the layout and format of my blog. I liked the background I had before, but I thought it needed to be changed. I also changed my font and the color of my font and I plan to add a profile picture before class tomorrow. I also decided to add the first box logic movie I made. Even thought it wasn't my final movie I thought it showed how much progress I made :)

How Does It Feel to Have Someone Comment on Your Post?

I read all of the comments made on my blog. I made me feel good that people took the time to read my poems and posts. All of the comments were positive. I appreciate my classmates sharing their thoughts and opinions.

Realities of War

By: Abby Orlowski

Young soldier,
The true saviors.
Trying to make words come together.
Stories of laughter and tears,
Aches and torture,
Blood and bodies,
Stories of all things.
All the rough jobs.
Letters saved and read and reread.
Wives and husbands and families and friends.
Hopes and thoughts,
Enormous energy and drive, focus,
Something never achieved.
Camps at night.
Hunted,
Attacked,
A close friend was shot and killed.
Real things that happened,
Reality.
Madness.
